The revamped annual motorcycle extravaganza at the NEC in Birmingham came to a close on Sunday 5 December with an all-round massive thumbs up from media, exhibitors and, most importantly, visitors.

After some fairly pointed research following last year’s show, Finlay McAllan and his team at MCI Exhibitions Ltd took a completely fresh look at the entire event, including the appointment of Motocom to manage PR and media for the show and manage the on-site press office.

Following a well-attended media launch (See the video) in central London two weeks before the show opened, there was a definite buzz about the event that transferred to opening day, Saturday 27 November, when MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo kick-started proceedings.

The one fly in the ointment came, ironically, from the media, who overreacted slightly to the winter weather that descended on the UK as Motorcycle Live opened. Many visitors – possibly many thousands – will have heeded the media’s call, repeated ad infinitum during the week, to stay at home.

Of course, many were simply unable to travel, and our sympathy goes to them, but those that made it to Motorcycle Live really enjoyed the interactive experiences and new models from almost 40 manufacturers.
